Lark
Productions is a full-service book development company that specializes in creating
and representing innovative single titles, series, and comprehensive
publishing programs for individual authors, as well as for organizations
and corporate entities.
As
a book producer, Lark invents original book concepts, creates sales
proposals, represents sales proposals to major publishers, negotiates
publishing contracts, and creates manuscripts and/or final disks
for delivery to publishers. Lark also creates original literary
content for non-book venues.
Lark
represents authors in the sale of their book proposals to the most
appropriate publishers, negotiates publishing contracts, and acts
as an advocate for the author and the book throughout the entire
publishing process.
Lark
Productions has created over 150 books in a variety of categories
of practical non-fiction, including business, personal finance,
parenting, crafts, spirituality, health and fitness, relationships, gardening,
general self-help and popular reference. Lark
also develops and represents narrative non-fiction.
As producers, our specialty is forging relationships with companies or individuals who may not have thought of turning their work into a bookâor who knew they'd need to collaborate heavily to do so. For our partners, we invent the concept, sell the concept, and then make the book. We also work with partners who choose not to go the mainstream publishing route, but instead opt for self-publishing.
Lark is regarded as among the most creative and resourceful book developers in publishing. Some of our branding partners include Bayer Corporation, First Signs, Military Advantage, Fodor's, Scott's, Ortho, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, John Lithgow, Seth Godin, Earth Day, Gaynor-Minden, and RoperASW.
We not only invent and write books, we work with clients to formulate a plan for how and when subsequent books should be done. When the first book hits, there's a plan in place at Lark to step up and build whatever comes next. We maximize our partner's position and elevate exposure to new levels.
Lark brings to the table advantages such as:
• Project management skills on complex, long term projects.
• An ability to deliver high quality books, from manuscript to warehouse, at warp speed.
• A roster of top designers, writers, researchers, illustrators, photographers, copy editors, proofreaders, and typesetters.
• The flexibility and expertise to market a self-published title to a publisher.
• Relationships with the best houses in the business: Random House, Penguin Putnam, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Grand Central Publishing, Hyperion and more.
